centrifugal clutch
The centrifugal clutch transmits torque through frictional force. Its basic structure consists of three components: the active part, the centrifugal body and the driven component. The centrifugal body is mounted on the driving piece and is driven by the prime mover to rotate and rotate out of the rotor. When the active part reaches the specified angular velocity, the centrifugal body thrown out is pressed with the inner wall of the driven body, and the torque is forced to move into the motion state to transfer torque. The follower of the clutch can be connected to the load directly or through the pulley and other mechanisms.
The centrifugal clutch, which is automatically connected or disconnected by the rotation speed of the prime mover, forms some inherent characteristics of the centrifugal clutch:
1) the engagement of the clutch depends on the centrifugal force, so the load greater than the rated torque can not be transmitted. If the follower is overloaded, the clutch will slip, so it also has the function of a safety clutch.
2) because the force of the centrifugal clutch is proportional to the square of the speed, the output power varies with the cube of the working speed, so it is not suitable to be used in the variable speed drive system.
The centrifugal clutch should not be installed on the low speed shaft. In order to achieve enough centrifugal force at low speed, the size of the structure must be increased and the cost will be increased.
3) because of the centrifugal force is increased gradually with increasing speed, so the use of the centrifugal clutch is equivalent to the load gradually added to the original motivation, which can directly start working machinery and obtain stable starting effect, if the direct drive motor, can significantly reduce the starting current.
4) before the original motivation did not reach to the rated speed, the centrifugal body follower to slip relative to the resulting friction heat, part of the energy consumption, so the centrifugal clutch does not make in frequent starting occasions, it is not in the local application of starting process is too long.
